The embedded system has been employed in a wide field because of itsminiaturization, customized and high-reliability. For the embedded Real TimeOperating System has been used, embedded system get over the functioninsufficiency of single chip control system and non real time of the system basedpersonal computer. Therefore, the study on the development of embedded system isvery important. The thesis dedicated to the study of embedded system based on ARM processorand μC/OS-II operation system and its application in GPS receiver. The main worksand contributions can be summarized as follows:1. The concept and composing of embedded system are depicted generally. Thecharacteristic of embedded system is analyzed. The common process and methodof embedded system are given.2. ARM processor and ARM series kernel are described. The performance of someordinary ARM kernel is analyzed and3. MicroC/OS-II, the real-tine kernel is studied. three part of μC/OS-II's kernel, theprocessor the independent code, the processor specific code and applicationspecific are analyzed. The processor specific code and the application specificcode are analyzed and configured. The porting of ?C/OS-II based on ARMprocessor has completed successfully.4. The principle of GPS receiver design is introduced and the construction andfunction description of each hardware component of GPS receiver is analyzed. Apattern which complete the GPS base band processing with FPGA and ARM isdesigned. A hardware development environment is constructed.5. The theory of GPS signal processing is analyzed. The software cross environmentof compiling and debugging of the embedded system based on ARM CS89712and ?C/OS-II is established. The interrupt and multitask are designed toimplement GPS receiver's function, such as signal processing, navigatingcalculation and displaying. The GPS receiver application software is developmentcompleted.In conclusion, the design of hardware and software , the application of embeddedsystem are detailed roundly. The core technology of embedded system was obtained.GPS receiver based on ARM is designed and the firmly base for CAPS receiverdesigning development was set up.
