A Study Of Map-display Style Conversion In MGISII

Military GISII is a common foundation platform to all Services of PLA. But there are several shortcomings in its function: the first is that the map-display is not applicable to different usage; the second is that the map-display is not applicable to different display device; and the third, it's too hard for users to operate its map-display functions.We proposed the conceptions of map-display pattern, map-display style and map-display template. And category the MGISII display patterns into usage-pattern, device-pattern and operation-pattern. And each pattern contains several styles. The conceptions of map-display pattern and map-display style resolve the first two problems from the concept level. The map-display template is a practical method to convey the practice of cartography professionals to common users.Also, the paper provides the conception of conversion of display style, its theory and key method and improves the symbols of MGISII by using specific effect to enhance the map display effect. Additionally, the paper proposes the requirement of the style conversion system and gives the experimental values of the parameters used in the system.The experiment of improving the display effect of map symbols is valuable attempt to change the invariable face of the map display in MGISII. And the theory, method and technology of map-display style conversion are valuable to the improvement of MGISII map display. The latest version of MGISII has incorporated these conclusions.
