In recent years, the research of three-dimensional display becomemore and more popular. The optical holography has a great advantage inthe three-dimensional information recording, while the computergenerated holography(CGH) has less requirements on the environmentalconditions than the optical holography, so people try to use the computergenerated holography to produce three-dimensional objects' CGH.This paper reviews the history of CGH technology, and introducesthe development of CGH technology and three-dimensional holographicdisplay. This paper introduces the basic diffraction theory and twoimportant approximation, Fresnel diffraction and Fraunhofer diffraction, and the paper focus on Fresnel diffraction which be used more often inCGH technology. Also introduces the optical holography theory, and doesa theoretical derivation to the recording and reproduce of the wave front. The paper presence two extremely important concepts in CGH, samplingtheorem and space-bandwidth product. And from detour phase effect theauthor raised a important CGH encoding method - Roman detour phaseencoding. The paper described production of binary Fourier CGH andbinary Fresnel CGH using detour phase encoding method. And the authordiscussed using reduced dynamic range, modular over-flow correction,Multi-in-one to improve the quality of CGH. The author discussed how toproduce a three-dimensional CGH, and analysis the multi-view projectionmethod and the stratification method. The author also introduced thedevice of reproducing the 3D image using multi-view projection. This paper did a computer generated hologram simulation, thenproduced a binary Fourier CGH of two-dimensional image, and usedcomputer to reproduce the image, filtered the CGH and reproduced theimage from the filtered CGH. Using stratification method to produce asimple three-dimensional object's CGH, and reconstructed thethree-dimensional object in computer. Using 3D Max produced athree-dimensional model of the teapot, and then produced the multi-angleprojection CGH, and reconstructed the three-dimensional teapot incomputer. Compared the advantages and disadvantages of differentthree-dimensional object' CGH. At last, the author analysis thepracticality and the future development of the three-dimensional object'CGH.
