Application of the micro-machining technology on the three dimensional precision micro parts manufacturing led to a major technological change in micro manufacturing. Different from MEMS technology and the ultra precision processing technology, it is an effective way for micron-scale micro and intermediate parts with high efficiency, high-precision micro-manufacturing, which is use of traditional methods. Micro mini CNC machining is important equipment for the micro-machining. In recent years, foreign micro machining technology has got rapid development and developed a lot of practical system, but most are still in trial stage and technological secrets to China; Domestic development on the specific equipment for the micro-machining is still in its primary stage. The design of control system is the focus to ensure processing performance for the development of micro-machining Micro CNC Machine. This paper focused on the open NC system of the micro-milling machine based on PMAC, which based on the pre-built micro-milling machine, including the hareware structures design and selection, configuration of the important components, servo system establishment and CNC system software development. Finally, small part processing experiment is carried out to verify the overall performance of the developed CNC control system. This study will lay a good foundation for domestic micro-machining technology and will promote the research, development and utilization for the miniaturization of processing equipment.This paper mainly includes the following:(1) Using PMAC multi-axis motion control card and its option boards, together with Advantech IPC-610H industrial machine, the PC+NC dual-CPU hardware architecture CNC system is built. The control system hardware architecture are composed of PMAC, high-speed spindle, precision feed units, electronic hand wheel and the strong electric control cabinet. An improved tool setting method is design to meet the special requirements of micro-milling machine.(2) Proposing the servo system solutions with "DC servo motor+high-speed precision ball screws+precision grating ruler". Composite PID+Feedforward control means is take to ensure accuracy and fast response performance of servo system. Built-in soft-PLC of the PMAC is achieved for safety testing while running the spindle.(3) CNC system software development is completed by VC++ 6.0 in the Windows platform with Modular design ideas. The implementation of micro-milling machine motion control and system management is achieved with the help of PMAC software communication, interface Pcomm32 dynamic link library.Finally, a small plane milling tests is carried out on the micro-milling machine. The roughness measurement results verify the performance of the overall developed micro-milling machine system.
