This thesis falls into four parts:In the first part, the virtue, mechanism and research progresses of emulsionpolymerization are generalized in all aspects. On this basement, the research progressesof inverse emulsion polymerization are outlined. At last, much attention are paid to thesynthesis, application and market demands. In the second part, the inverse emulsion copolymerization ofacrylamide/N-hydroxymethylacrylamide was carried out. The effects of reactiontemperature, monomer concentration, emulsion concentration and initiatorconcentration were investigated respectively. The kinetics equation obtained is:RP∝[M1+M2]1.07[(NH4)2S2O8]0.53[ Span-40]0.66The mechanism of nuclei formation is described in rough at the end.In the third part, the inverse emulsion copolymerization of acrylamide/sodium2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfite was carried out. The effects of reactiontemperature, comonomer concentration, emulsion concentration, initiator concentrationand monomer concentration on kinetics were investigated respectively. The kineticsequation obtained is:Rp∝[AM]1.18[(NH4)2S2O8]0.48[SAMPS]0.62[Span-80]0.70The mechanism of nuclei formation conforms to drop nucleation. The moleculeweights of polymers obtained were determined by viscosity lastly. In the last part, the inverse emulsion copolymerization of acrylamide/sodium2 -acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfite was optimized in order to improve moleculeweight of polymer and make the emulsifying craft easier. Polymers obtained werecharacterized by molecule weight, TEM, FT-IR, TG-DTA in the experiments. It isshown that good results were achieved.
