In China, rapeseed oil is one kind of cheap material with abundant resource, and the contents of erucin acid and linonic acid in Chinese rapeseed oil are much higher than those of foreign products. So the rapeseed oil can be modified by oxidized and sulfiting method to produce fatliquor with excellent property due to the good hydrophobic property and lubricating ability of erucin. Nowadays many kinds of domestic fatliquor take on deep color and bad smell, impart the leather with unpleasant smell because of the problems of quality of raw material and process of manufacture. These problems should be solved as soon as possible.The preparation technology, product property and application technology of the oxidized and sulfiting rapeseed oil leather fatliquor were studied to make full utilization of resource and enhance the grade of domestic fatliquor.Treated by interesterification with methanol, then oxidized by air with compounded organic metal salt catalyst.and sulphited by sulphite, a novel scent type oxidized and sulfiting leather fatliquor was obtained from refined rapeseed oil. The interesterification extent, oxidative catalyst and extent were key questions. Through the comparative experiments, optimum technology parameters were confirmed: interesterification temperature 62℃, interesterification extent 60%, oxidative time 4 hour, Peroxide Value over 300 m mol/kg. Compared with other literatures whichconcern about the preparation of oxidized and sulfiting rapeseed oil fatliquor, this technology have the advantage of lower interesterification temperature, higher efficiency of catalyst and short oxidization time.Combined with electronic microscope and laser particle analytical device, microstructure of water latex of oxidized and sulfiting rapeseed oil and compounded fatliquors were studied. The microimage , particle sizes and their distributions.were determined. It was proved from the micro-angle that the prepared fatliquors have proper latex size and excellent emulsification. Based on the results, a better modification technology was designed.Fatliquoring application experiments have been done on pig skin. The results showed that the prepared compounded fatliquor have good permeability, high combined oil in leather, little fatliquor residue in the fatliquoring liquor and excellent fatliquoring property which meet the requirment of molecular-design. This product is an eco-friendly fatliquor.
