Fixture is an important part of manufacturing system. Along with the rapiddevelopment of Advanced Manufacturing Technology and the intense marketcompetition, traditional fixture design has become the bottleneck of rapid productioncoming-into-the-market. So enterprises cry for promoting the efficiency of designingfixture. Computer-Aided Fixture Design (CAFD) just satisfies this need and has beenthe research hotspot in many coutries. In this paper, based on this background apractical CAFD system was developed. Such main works are studied: 1, The development and research statement of CAFD are introduced andproblems of existing CAFD systems are analyzed. 2, The effection on CAFD system exerted by modern design methods, such asRapid Design, Concurrent Design and so on is described. The application in CAFD ofParametric, Product Data Management and Data Base, is analyzed. 3, On the basis of research on CBR, the application of CBR in CAFD wasintroduced in detail. The realization of the interactive CAFD is analyzed .Theapplying the two methods of CBR and interactive design to CAFD system is putforward. 4, Many drawings of the standardized parts and components has been drawnand the Data Base and Graphic Base are created. In the end, a CAFD system based on 3-dimension and C/S network model isintroduced in detail. And the applied instance is put forward. From this instance, it canbe proved that the CAFD system has practical value.
