Rapid design orders for shortening design cycle on the basis of guaranteeing high quality. With the diversification, complication, individuation of the product requirements, rapid design has been gaining much more attention nowadays. Modular design is one of the main techniques to implement it, the interchange ability and combinability is the basis of rapid design. With the research object of fly frame, the rapid design theory and method to textile machinery based on modular concept are studied systematically. The main research contents are as follows:1. The thesis developed product families and studied the method of module dividing emphatically. Fly frame is divided into modules by the theory of function-form mapping and the module coding system is also discussed.2. The technology of modeling for module is studied and the integrated module model is founded. The thesis took twisting module of fly frame as an example and introduced the modeling steps.3. The thesis discussed the obtaining and transformation of customer requirements facing the development and the order of products. Through building the template of customer requirements for a product family, the customer requirements can be obtained quickly. The mapping ordering of customer requirements into engineering characteristic can be finished by using the QFD matrix.4. The thesis studied CBR technology and applied it to variant design. The product design based on module and modular product case are proposed as two ways of rapid design.5. A rapid design system of textile machinery based on modular concept is developed on the platform of C++ Builder. The system can quickly choose module or revise the product case to form new product according to the customer requirements.TMPDS can quickly form the design plan of the products according to the demand which users input, it has strong adaptability and flexibility, which is the basis of quickly responding to the customer requirements, reducing the design work and lengthening the life cycle of the products.
