The insecticidal action ,chemical ingredients,structure-activity relationship and poisnous mechanism of Sabina vulgris Ant. were studied by the Research and Service Center of Biorational Pesticide of NWSUAF,and 4 insecticidal ingredients had been isolated ,which were podophyllotoxin,deoxypodophyllotoxin,tepineol-4-ol and β-steriol.The results of bioassay showed that several kinds of compounds of Sabina vulgris Ant. maybe all have certain insecticidal activities,and exhibited antifeeding,stomach poisonous, fumigating and growth inhibition activities against insects through intricate interaction.The work of this treatise basing on having researched before,and according to the guidance of bioactivity assaying,isolated insecticidal ingredients from the fruits of Sabina vulgris Ant. and measured the bioactivities of compounds,for the purpose of further researching of poisnous mechanism and structure-activity relationship ,as well as exploitation and utilization.The fruits of Sabina vulgris Ant. were extracted with EtOH ,then isolated primarily with 4 different polar solvent-Petroleum ether,Chloroform,Ethyl acetate and Butanol,and the chloroform and ethyl acetate extracts had better antifeeding and toxic activity to the 3rd instars larvae of Mythimna separata w..The chloroform abstracts were isolated through 3 normal pressure silica gel pillar chromatographys, and gained 4 compounds,two of these had been syudied deeply,and the other two were 4-epi-abietal and abieta-7,13-dien-3-one respectively.Their molecular structures were identified by MS,1H NMR,13C NMR ,DEPT and comparing to the references.The antifeeding and toxic activities of 4-epi-abietal and abieta-7,13-dien-3-one were investigated.The AFC50 values of the two compounds against the 3rd instars larvae of Mythimna separata w. in 48h were 6.030 mg/mL and 3.020 mg/mL; at the concentration of 5 mg/mL,the morality ratio in 72h were 43.33% and 76.78%.The AFC50 and LC50 values to the 3rd instars larvae of Plutella xylostella L. in 48h were 4.010mg/mL and 2.716 mg/mL ;and the LC50 values were 14.40mg/mL and 7.175 mg/mL. The morality ratio on day 7 of abieta-7,13-dien-3-one of 8mg/mL and 4-epi-abietal of 10mg/mL against the 5th Pieris rapae L. were 100% and 50%.At the tested concentration,they showed certain contact activities against Myzus persicae Sulzer. Podophyllotoxin and deoxypodophyllotoxin had better inhibitive activities to Phytophthora capsici Leon, Botrytis cirerea Pers. ex Tris and Sclerotinia sclerotiorum (Lib.) de Bary.Simultaneously, podophyllotoxin,deoxypodophyllotoxin and abieta-7,13-dien-3-one had different inhibitive action to the roots and sterms of Amaranthus retroflexus, Medicagos sativa, Avena fatua, Veronica persica and Lycopersicon escuientum. From the results of bioassay,we can predict that the terpenes probably were another kind of main insecticidal substances,and conclued that there maybe exist many components which have insecticidal,fungicidal and herbicidal activities in Sabina vulgris Ant.,which need to be validated furthermore.
