Developing the CAD system of shoe-last can greatly improve the management and efficiency of shoemaking industry. This thesis presents two kinds of custom shoe-last modeling methods. These methods are based on the feature size of human foot and foot range scanned data, respectively. Then, a uniform definition of shoe-last is implied on the shoe-last model. At last, two algorithms of shoe-last surface are presented.Chapter I introduces the research status of relative technology, analyses the problems and shortcoming existing in shoe-last system, describes the research contents and main framework of this thesis.Chapter II gives a definition of shoe-last size information, Firstly. With this information from user's foot size, the system constructs the initial surface mesh. Finally, a shoe-last design process is completed though the shoe-last's modification.Chapter III according to the input information of user foot scanned model, provides a foot feature template; after interacted with user, a last feature template is educed, which is the initial coarse mesh of subdivision; based on the combination of last feature template and last profiles, a variational subdivision scheme is introduced to construct shoe-last surface mesh.Chapter IV presents a uniform definition of shoe-last, which includes surface information and last feature information. Then we discuss the method of last modification based on this uniform definition: a global scale and a local deformation of surface are described, respectively.Chapter V describes the architecture of custom shoe-last system, introduces the development environment and user interface. At the end of this thesis, we provide the example of application.The remainder of this dissertation summarizes the research work and gives the future works of this research.
