With the development of contemporary towards automation ,integration and intelligent manufacture mode, manufacturing process simulation is key method in advanced manufacturing technology .This thesis implements the simulation of numerical control(NC) turning through computer simulation technology and boolean operation method.In this thesis geometric solid model established, for workpiece and machine tool, and turning process are described with boolean operation between solids, and a kind of geometry feature model method of turning tool and workpiece come up with,"volving and sweeping - based 2D loop modelling method".The problems in boolean operation is discussed. And some kinds of wrong boolean operations are analysed and solved. Modelling method for describing the change of relative position between cutter and workpiece is implementedThis thesis also applys popular standard graph library -OpenGL as a development platform to research and develop the simulation system .OpenGL's exclusive double buffer function accelerates graph display.The simulation system has added turning simulation to NC manufacturing process simulation environment,and implemented panorama simulation for turning.With preferable real-tin interactive and transplantable characteristics, this system can be manipulated simply and will be applied broadly.
