The gear, which is the basic component for power and movement transmission, has played a very important role in the engineering and its position can't be substituted in the mechanical transmission system. With the development of modern science and technology, the design and manufacturing of gear have been greatly improved. For example, the static design based on rigidity mechanics will be replaced by the dynamic design of gear based on the theory of dynamic elastic nibble; the primitive precisions of lathe and cutter are being improved continuously in gear manufacturing; the gear's measurement technology is also being developed toward high efficiency, high accuracy, multi-functional and intelligent direction.However, the gear technology discussed in this dissertation is only a small part of them, which is mainly about the setting-up of the intelligent system of gear measurement and error reason analyzing. With this system, the automation of gear measurement can be realized and the factors that lead to errors during manufacturing can be found out. After analyzing the data, the information is fed back to practical production. The whole dissertation mostly include two parts:The first part is about the intelligent regeneration of several kinds of gear individual error measuring apparatuses. The improved apparatus is used to measure the single error value of gear and transform the result into digital signal so that the digital result can be calculated, processed and displayed directly by the computer. Then the procedure of measurement becomes easier and the measuring precision becomes more accurate. Moreover, the measuring result can be automatically analyzed. The improved apparatus can be conducted to meet the needs of intelligent measurement on the greatest degree.The second part is about the expert system of gear error analyzing. An expert system (Expert System, ES) that is used to analyze the error data obtained from the apparatus and find out the reasons is set up. The system is a new-type, open system, which is realized on the basis of the regular reasoning principle of expert system technology. Furthermore, it has many advantages, such as high efficiency, high ability, appropriate scale and flexible structure etc.Because of the two important advantages of object-orientation and visualization, the C ++ Builder is adopted to realize the whole system. The man-machine interface of this system is friendly, simple and easy to operate. What's more, it is independentand can be expanded and upgraded according to the request of users. The study and realization of this system offer a reliable and high-efficient method for gear error measurement and analyses.
