The paper is based on the theory of supercritical fluid technology and used SC-CO2 to extract concrete from natural flavor and fragrance and effective compositions from Chinese traditional medicine. Flowers of Sophora japonica L. are the experimental material and are firstly used to the SFE-CO2 at present. A batch of flowers is respectively extracted by means of SC-CO2 and SC-CO2 modified by alcohol. Finally, two valuable products can be gotten. One is aromatic concrete, and the other is rutin. The effect of operation conditions on the concrete yield, such as the state of materials, pressure, temperature and granularity etc, are studied from the systematic experiments of fresh, sundried flowers and Semen Cassiae. The conclusions are as follows:(1) The optimum extraction conditions of fresh and sundried flowers are respectively 10MPa,313K and 15MPa, 313K, and the yields of them are accordingly 3.69% and 2.66%. GC-MS analyzer judges the main compositions of extractions. Comparatively sundried flowers are more suitable to be extracted as an industrial material although the concrete yield of fresh flowers is a little more. At the same time the experiment process fully proves the selectivity of SFE-CO2. Low temperature and low pressure are suitable to extract concrete from natural flavor and fragrance;(2) The materials prepared to extract rutin are the flowers that are gotten rid of concrete by SFE-CO2. The extraction methods include the SFE-CO2 modified by alcohol, the method of hot alkali-precipitate with acid, and alkaly dissolving and acid subsiding combined with microwave or ultrasonic. As a result, SFE-CO2 modified by alcohol and alkaly dissolving and acid subsiding combined with ultrasonic are more effective conditions, and the yields of rutin are respectively 2.9% and 6.4% under the two conditions;(3) In addition, Semen Cassiae, another Chinese traditional medicine, is extracted by SC-CO2 and the optimum extraction conditions of Semen Cassiae is 25MPa% 323K. MS analyzer judges the main compositions of the oil extracted by SC-CO2. The experiments show that for SFE-CO2 of seeds the oil yield increases with the improvement of pressure and the raise of the density of CO2.
