Mould process planning is an important part of the development of mould, and its design level influences the development period, productivity and quality of mould greatly. Now the designers plan mould process manually, based on their experience and skill, which results in low design efficiency and difficulty in quality control. The use of CAPP method for mould process planning can improve the quality and efficiency of process planning, and more over, it can improve the intelligence and automation degree of process planning. Consequently it's important to research and develop the Mould CAPP system.The principle, characteristics, problems, development trends of computer aided process planning and the characteristics of mould CAPP are researched in this paper. With the rapid development and wide-spread application of network, CAPP is developing towords network and integration. The paper analyses the advantages of Browser/Server structure that comes into being along with the Internet, investigates the technologies of integration between Web and database, then applies it to the domain of CAPP, realizing the mould process planning. The paper analyzes the functional requirement of CAPP in mould factory according the characteristic of mould process. Based on the theory above, the paper analyzes the inner-frame, discusses the function of inner-module of Mould CAPP System in detail. The key technologies of this system are also elaborated in this paper such as the repository of the system, the project description of process planning, cooperative process planning, data security and parallel control of the system, the management of users' popedom and so on.On researching these technologies in detail, Mould CAPP system based on Web prototype system was built, which verifying the advantage and feasibility of the development of the Mould CAPP system based on Web. It can be predicted that the Mould CAPP system based on Web will be used widely.
