This paper described the study on poplar veneer vision modification, including veneer dyeing, drying and direct printing on surface of panel to improve the vision. This research select 1.5mm of poplar veneer as the sample, and it was dyed with acid dyestuff in the laboratory to find the proper prescription of the dyestuff, meanwhile, analyse the dying time, temperature, density of concentration of the solution, and the effect of infiltrator utilization, to find out the optimization of the dying process. The process was then applied from lab to factory to make a batch of test and production, to work out the key point and technical requirement for factory production, and make an analysis of the production cost and profit. Finally, directly print Teak, Beech, Rosewood or Black Walnut grain on the surface of the plywood to add the value of the product, and analyse the production cost and profit. The conclusions are as follows: (1) The poplar veneer is easy to dye in the acid dyestuff. The optimum prescriptions are: Teak; acid red G: acid golden yellow: acid black: yellow powder=1:9:3:1.4; Beech; acid red G: acid black: black powder: yellow powder=1:2:11.5:4; Rosewood; acid red G: acid golden yellow: acid black=2.8:2:1; Black Walnut; acid red G: acid golden yellow: acid black: black powder=2:3:9:1.8 (2) The influence of dying time, temperature, density of concentration of the solution for infiltration is quite much. The influence of infiltrator is not so much while the amount is less than 1%. The optimum dying process is 4 hours, 80℃,1% of solution for poplar veneer. (3) The proper PH value is 3-4 for poplar dying in the acid solution. (4) The process of 4 hours,80℃,1% of solution is suitable for factory production, the dying quality is even and good result. The cost&profit analysis shows the economic benefit is high and it is quite practicable. (5) The good result can achieved by using Italian or Taiwan direct print equipments to produce Teak, Beech, Rosewood or Black Walnut grain. It can replace the real lumber, meanwhile, the vision is good. The cost&profit analysis shows the economic benefit is high and it is quit practicable.
