The traditional veneer lathe wastes precious forest reserves becauseof its large diameter of the log core. To improve the utilization ratio of timber, many companies have developed log-core veneer lathe. But the veneer peeling thickness of log-core veneer lathes are not easy to guarantee. Based on the study of the lathe principle and peeling curve The thesis developed mathematical model of variable-speed feeding system to guarantee the even veneer thickness. Additionally when the very thick veneer is peeled, the mathematical model has been corrected so that the deviation of veneer thickness is decreased. The experiments have shown that the thickness tolerance made by using the mathematical model to peel veneer can satisfy the demands and also accord with the practice of knife-carriage feeding. So the design of the knife-carriage feeding system of the log-core veneer lathe can be directed by the mathematical model.
