This paper analyses mainly the present situation of dynamic monitoring technologyabout coal mining subsidence area in China and overseas. And it summarizes the shortageof dynamic monitoring technology about coal mining subsidence area in our country. Theremote sensing dynamic monitoring system about coal mining subsidence area is developedbased on coal mining subsidence area in the south of Tangshan. This system includesdynamic monitoring interpretation system and statistic analysis of environmental factorsystem about coal mining subsidence area.The basis data are remote sensing images which are TM of Landsat5 in 1987,TM ofLandsat5 in 1992,TM of Landsat5 in 1997,ETM+ of Landsat7 in 2001 and TM ofLandsat5 in 2003 and on-site research, combining other related data.The dynamic monitoring interpretation system is developed with ENVI(TheEnvironment For Visualizing Images)and IDL(Interactive Data Language). The mainfunctions are interpretation,display and analysis of remote image etc. This systeminterpret remote image firstly, then it extracts change by methods of classification resultoverlay and confirms change of subsidence area by means of identifying method. At last,ideal monitoring result is obtained.The statistic analysis of environmental factor system about coal mining subsidencearea is developed with MapInfo and MapBasic. The main functions are inquiry,countingarea and plotting cartogram. The classification result is input in this system firstly andvector is created. The vector is operated, such as counting its area, then area and cartogramis obtained. Moreover, we can analyze area and cartogram by means of quantitativeanalysis.This system is applied to dynamic analysis of ecological environment about coalmining subsidence area in the south of Tangshan. The result demonstrates that the remotesensing dynamic monitoring system about coal mining subsidence area based RS(RemoteSensing)and GIS(Geographic Information Systems)can supply a quick,economical andaccurate method and platform which is used to data management and analysis formanagement branch. Moreover, the application of this system takes advantage ofmonitoring about coal mining subsidence area which is long-term,systematic anddynamic. And it supplies basis for ecological environment destroyed of reclamation,harnessing and recovery. It is important to maintain ecological environment of subsidencearea.
