In order to resolve the calculation and drawing matter of coal preparation flowsheeet design easily, considering the computer's powerful data processing and flexible drawing function, I have developed the CPFID software with VB and studied the problems of manufacturing process.Adopting the VB's method of founding ActiveX, the equipment picture pool is established. There are 25 equipment controls in this pool. The properties, events and methods are accreted. Which breaks through the tradition pattern of drawing equipment with simple legend, and can mark equipment number. These controls are the baseof drawing equipment connection graph and calculating flow.By studying the equipment connection graph window' design method and auto-identification, the CPFID can drawing equipment connection picture, turn into flowsheet graph and mark the quantity and quality data. Which resolves the drawing issue of coal preparation flowsheet design easily. The clear picture can satisfy users' needs.The equipment unit is the base of calculating flow. There are three modules in VB. These are window module, norm module and class module. The equipment unit modules were founded. It makes the calculation of flow become possible. The parameter modules were founded with window module, realized man-machine interactive function. Which makes the parameters change as the users' needs, and changes the traditional pattern.When calculating coal preparation flow, we have to analysis the flow feature. Through analyzing the feature, I found, the flow can be thought that many equipments are connected in turn. The materials are treated from ahead equipment, then enter into the next equipment. But there is circuit sometime, under this circumstance, the materialsare treated from the next equipment and enter into the ahead equipment. In this paper, I introduce the sequential-modular, which is the algorithm of analog chemical engineer system. Firstly, I use path searching method look for no-split units any more, then look for no-independence edges, cull these edges and cut off the system, finally get the order of calculation unit and calculate flow by means of sequential-modular. That resolves the most difficult problem of calculating coal preparation flow.With the example of jig main separation and fine flotation, The CPFID software calculated the flow. This article explained the installed parameter information, and display the product balance table, equipment connection graph, flowsheet and the quantity and quality data graph. That demonstrated that the CPFID can resolve the drawing and calculating issues of coal preparation flowsheet design.
