Study On Machining Twisted Impeller Of Roots Blower With NC Shaping Machine

Roots blowers are important manufacturing equipments widely used in industrial field. With the development of economy, the need of Roots blower, especially twisted impeller Roots blower, is increasing fast. Impeller is the most important part of Roots blower. Traditional machining methods such as profiling and generating are unable to meet the requirements of market. The application of NC technology in impeller machining field can greatly improve the production efficiency and decrease the cost. By analyzing the structure of twisted impeller, a machining method with NC shaping machine is proposed. Some control technologies during the cutting process are discussed. And a specific NC shaping system is developed successfully. The dissertation focuses on following aspects: The optimum kind of impeller of Roots blower is selected from two sides. On one hand, the mathematic models of three impellers'profile are built. Through analyzing, a right profile is chosen. On the other hand, a comparison is made between the cylinder impeller and twisted impeller by drawing the curve of the air inward and outward flux of them. Thus, the proper impeller shape is selected. The twisted impeller's processing is analyzed. By comparing several possible NC machining methods, the method of NC shaping is proposed. Furthermore, the problem of accuracy controlling during cutting process is discussed in detail. According to the technologies and equipments conditions of the manufacturer of Roots blower, the general solution for the NC shaping is presented, including the modification of mechanical structure, the motion control, and the position control of the shaping machine. A specific NC system is developed on the open NC platform of "Huazhong century star ". The software and the hardware structure of this special system are introduced. All functions are realized by using API. Some feasible and effective measures are proposed to solve the application problems.
