Bamboo fiber is a new type of cellulose fiber with high strength and moisture absorption, and provides good qualities of anti-bacteria, bacteriostasis and anti-ultraviolet radiation. And because of its ability to absorb and evaporate moisture in an instant, bamboo fiber is also named as "breathing fiber". Meantime, bamboo, which is a rich resource in China, asks low soil conditions, input and maintenance cost, but makes a considerable output with its high survival probability and short growth cycle. As a result, the application of bamboo fiber can greatly help solving the lack of textile raw materials. Therefore, the study and develop of bamboo fiber is of great significance in our country.The use of bamboo fiber has not yet widely spread at the present time. The bamboo products on the market are for the most part made of bamboo pulp fiber, which usually make heavy energy waste and environmental pollution. Bamboo fiber products, especially knitted products, are both in short supply and lacking diversification. This is mainly because that bamboo yarns are not very stretchable and flexible, therefore difficult to knit, and the softness and hand of bamboo fabric still need more improvement.In this thesis, the processing and performance of bamboo knitted fabric are studied through using different yarn preparation, knitting, scouring, and softening finishing process to treat bamboo fabric.Alkali, softening and cellulose enzyme and softeners are used in scouring process to improve yarn performance. The knit-ability, strength and elongation, hairiness and softness of yarns are tested considering the difference of each kind of preparation and their effect on yarns.Then bamboo fabric is processed with different scouring methods using alkali, pectin enzyme, cellulose enzyme and pectin/cellulose compound enzyme. The effect of different methods and each factor on the scouring results are discussed through orthogonal experiments. And the interaction of pectin enzyme and cellulose enzyme are also studied in the thesis.In softening finish, softener, acidic cellulose enzyme and neutral cellulose enzyme are used to treat bamboo knitted fabric. By designing orthogonal experiments, the optimized processing method is concluded. The processing of cellulose enzyme along with softener is also studied and the effect of different finishing process is compared.At last, the whole process is studied by connecting performance testing and process evaluation. Six different bamboo fabric processing methods are proposed and the performance (including thermal-wet comfort, wearability and the subjective hand evaluation) of the terminal fabric of each method are tested. The performance indexes of each process are compared and finally analyzed by fuzzy comprehensive evaluation to conclude the optimized processing method.
