Ring rolling is a high efficient rolling method for manufacturing seamless rings, which is a progressive partial plastic forming technology. The diameter of the ring is increasing as the area of the cross-section decreasing in ring rolling. Ring rolling is of many characteristics such as saving forming force and production cost, increasing utilization ratio of energy and material, rising productivity, widening processing range of ring products etc., and so widely employed in many industrial domains of machinery, metallurgy, chemical engineering, energy sources, and aeronautics etc. This paper briefly introduces the principle of ring rolling, technique characteristics and some problems in ring rolling, and analyze the structure of the cold ring rolling mill and the actuality of the domestic and overseas research. Servo feed system and guide roller system are thoroughly analyzed and studied.Servo feed system is an important part of supplying rolling force, and its rigidity directly influences the orientation precision, the stability of control system, the precision of workpiece and the efficiency of ring rolling. In this paper the structure of servo feed system is analyzed the related calculation formulas are deduced, and its motion is simulated. The concept of loss of momentum is introduced in the process of analyzing rigidity, and explains that the loss of momentum of servo feed system is produced by mechanical, servo and driving system. The loss of momentum of servo feed system is quantificationally analyzed, and a conclusion is obtained that the loss of momentum of servo system is very small and can be ignored. Then an idea of improving the structure of the servo feed system is put forwarded. The fixing way of ball screw is improved. The way of one end rein and one end freedom is changed into the way of two end rein and the loss of momentum of servo feed system is reduced by 11.3 percent.Guide roller system is of great influence in the circularity precision, wimble precision and dimension precision of workpiece. In the paper the influence of the structure of guider roller is analyzed in ring rolling, the conclusion that the structure of the following guider roller is more beneficial to ring rolling is made, and thefollowing constrain force and the following location are analyzed and their corresponding calculation formulas are obtained. The kinematical simulation of the guider roller is analyzed, and variation laws of the displacement, speed and acceleration of different parts are obtained and moreover the static characteristics of the guider roller system are analyzed, then the intrinsic frequency of the guider roller is obtained.In this paper the analytical express of compositive rigidity of servo feed system makes it possible to quantificationally analyze its rigidity, and points out the direction of design and improvement of servo feed system;the conclusion of the structure of guider roller and the outcome of simulation analyses have guiding meanings for the design of cold ring rolling mill.
