The content of organic compound in sweet potato starch wastewater is very strong, and the concentration of CODcr is up to 5000mg/L. If it was discharged without limit, environment and ecology would be destroyed. In this paper, the experiments of the full-scale UASB (Up-flow Anaerobic Sludge Bed) treating sweet potato starch wastewater were studied.Through the start-up research of UASB, the conclusion has been found: it will improve activity and growth velocity of bacterium when N,P and NaHCO3 was added in the stable 38℃;during the middle temperature condition, it has been studied that the influence of key factors, such as: temperature, alkalinity, nutrition element, trace element and so on, conclusion can be used to instruct production;during the normal temperature condition, operation parameters have been optimized, then the functional conditons about several different concentration CODcr have been gained;in order to improve the quality of UASB effluent, some simple experiments that aerobic SBR used to treat the effluent were studied.The extra experiment has been introduced, which was the study on the influence of trace element such as MgCl2, FeCl2, CoCl2, NiCl2 on aerobic granule sludge.On the base of key technologies, it has been analyzed that the feasibility of UASB to treat sweet potato starch wastewater during the normal temperature condition.The conclusion has been reached that it was feasible.
