Chemiluminescene(CL) permits an increase of sensitivity in a detector, and therefore an attainment of a large signal-to-noise ratio (S/N). In addition, there are more advantages in CL detection, such as wide dynamic range, simple instrumentation, versatility of use and the easy automation. Based on its advantages, here we combined the chemiluminescene with flow injection technique in analysis. The main contents are shown as follows: (1) The flow injection chemiluminescence method was developed for determination of chemical oxygen demand (COD) for enviromental monitoring of water quality. The effects caused by Br-and Ag+ ions were investigated in detail. The linear range was 2.1~600mg/L, r2=0.998. Recovery rate was between 90% and 110%. For a standard sample (COD =250 mg/ L) and a Garbage wastewater sample (COD = 356.2mg/L), the RSD(n=6)was 3.6% and 4.0%, respectively. The data for environmental monitoring of water quality obtained by the present method were in good agreement with those obtained by the standard reflux titrimetric method that has been applied for real water sample measurements with satisfactory results. This method is easer to automate and operate. (2) Based on the catalytic character of PAR for the luminol-K3Fe(CN)6 reaction in the NaOH basic medium. The main factors that affected the CL reaction were reexamined. It was found that some metal ions strongle affected this catalytic reaction.Based on this finding, the luminol-potassium ferricynide-PAR reation was developed for the determination of metal ions. The detection limits (S/N=3) for Ni2+,Cr3+,Zn2+,Co2+and Mn2+were determined to be 1.0×10-9mol/L, 5.0×10-9 mol/L, 5.0×10-8 mol/L,1.0×10-9 mol/L and1.0×10-8 mol/L,respectively. (3) For the first time, we found that proteins can strongly catalyse the luminol-K3Fe(CN)6 reaction and observably enhance the chemiluminescence intensity. Based on the fact, the reaction of protein-luminol-potassium ferricyanide was studied in detail. Under the optimum condition, the detection limits (S/N=3) for bovine serum album, Hemoglobin, lysozyme and H IgG were determined to be 1.5 × 10-10mol/L,1.2 ×10-10mol/L,9.5×10-12mol/L and 2.5×10-12mol/L, respectively.
