Based on the great project of the Research and Development Plan of High and New Technology on Fujian Province---the Tandem Rolling Process of 20kg Molybdenum Wire. the paper focuses on the axial locking mechanism of φ160mm & 45°framed two-roll finishing rolling mill. This article analyzes the existent question on the axial locking mechanism of the rolling mills. And the design feature of roll and roller system is given on the paper. Three causes of what generated the axial force on φ160mm&45°framed two-roll finishing rolling mill are discussed in this paper. And the cause of fracture failure on holding screw bolt of the axial locking mechanism is presented when the strength calculation has been carried out. Then the paper presents an improvement design on the axial locking mechanism and the best program is realized in productive practice. The technology of finite element method is used in the analysis of the axial locking mechanism of φ160mm&45°framed two-high finishing rolling mills. This paper is concerned with the stress and strain distribution on the axial locking mechanism and the small round nut, the open question of the original axial locking mechanism and the reliability of advanced axial locking mechanism is proved. At the meantime, this paper presents the activity effect of axial locking mechanism on advanced rolling mills. The case of fracture failure on holding screw bolt of the axial locking mechanism is erased when the advanced program is used in productive practice. The problem is perfectly solved in the paper.
