This paper mainly focuses on the mathematical models of computer color matching spot-color printing ink used in gravure printing plastic film, establishes two color matching models based on Kubelka-Munk theory and Neugebauer equation, and tests their validities through experiments, finally concludes that the former is suitable to the system, but the latter can't reach the color matching precision.Firstly, this paper discusses the coloring model of spot-color ink, and analyzes all the factors that affect the color of spot-color printing, which is the theoretical basis of analyzing following models, and the exact guidance of following experiment processes. Secondly, discusses the methods for color-matching spot-color ink. Traditional color-matching method depending on experience is used widely in most of printing companies now, but it is affected by too many man-made factors, and can't reach the requirements of modern printing. So it's necessary to develop a computer color matching system. Thirdly, introduces two mathematical models of computer color matching, Kubelka-Munk theory and Neugebauer equation. Through analyzing the two models, chooses ordinary Kubelka-Munk equation with two constants and Neugebauer equation modified in regression method as the mathematical models of color-matching calculation, on which based establishes two different computer color matching systems. Fourthly, tests the validity of the models, through practically color matching experiments. It turns out that the former succeeded, but the latter failed. Finally, analyzes the differences between the two models in modeling, calculating parameters and modifying methods based on the results of experiments, which explains the reasons why the former succeeded, but the latter failed. The researches in this paper provide valuable theoretical basis and a practical example for farther research and development on the computer color matching system.
