With the rapid process of city establishment, residential community construction has been the major task. More than 5,000 modern communities have been built in Beijing. People give more attention on the quality of residential environment, when purchasing house.Living acoustic environment is an important aspect of residential environment, is indoor and outdoor acoustic environment affecting people living, which influence living coziness directly. As common location for living, relax and work, residents need silent and comfortable housing surroundings. Whereas economic increase, city traffic extension and living style diversification, furthermore, ignoring compatible land use, make living is full of polluted factors. Noise became one of serious social problem, which imperil people's health. According to the survey by national environment protection agency, for several years, noise complaints increased by 18 percent, more than 60% of the total number of the environmental pollution complaints in most cities.Modern community construction need scientific layout and management, acoustic environment assessment is essential. Before construction, surrounding noise analysis as an aspect of project feasibility research can instructs design of noise control measure. At the mean time, accumulate experience of community acoustic environment plan and management to improve the quality of residential community acoustic environment.In this paper, on the basis of summarizing domestic and overseas experience of noise control, separate residential community acoustic assessment into several correlative partitions. According to national law and criterion, assessment standard is set up. Case study was carried out by means of practical application of the methods in Sun community which indicated the residential community acoustic environment assessment is practical and reliable.
