| The rail flash butt welding machines are widely used in continuous welded rai ltrack in our country, but they are mainly imported abroad. After synthesizing researches which our country have achieved, and assimilating modern overseas technology and equipment of welding rail, the paper bewrites the first homemade rail AC flash butt welding machine—UN5-150, which has all knowledge property rights. It is great significant to enhancing the level of railway equipment, making the rail welding equipment in our country, economizing large numbers of foreign exchange.The welding machine head developed in this paper, is adopted pensile configuration, which is not only compact, but also easy to center-adjusted and clamp rail. The control system developed in this paper, is adopted Industrial Personal Computer (IPC) as the main computer, and adopted Programmable Logic Computer (PLC) as the subordinate computer. With the Electro-Hydraulic Proportional Valve, the control system realizes the velocity control for flash and upset. The parameters values such as welding current, welding voltage, oil pressur, rail displacement, etc, are collected by the software, which can make general figure of welding parameters,so it can analyse the quality of welding.The results of elementary tests can be demonstrated as followings. The welding machine like a pincers can satisfy the rail welding production. With the Electro-Hydraulic Proportional Valve, the moving clamp's action is controlled by PLC, it has high response rate, high control precision, and broad requlation area. UN5-150 has high capability of anti-interference, can, expediently control holistic welding machine welds rail reliably and expediently. Compared with overseas kindred machines, UN5-150 has small volume, light weight, and high ration of capability and price. The fittings can make in our country, so the run change is played down consumedly.
