The synthesis of new organic-inorganic hybrid compound is a relatively new research area that has developed rapidly in the last several years. The compounds templated by transition-metal complexes have attracted considerable attention because of their interesting coordination and physical properties. There are many kinds of borates. Some of them have complex structures. However, the metallo-organically templated borate is less explored.Seven novel organic-inorganic hybrid borates have been synthesized by hydrothermal / solvothermal reaction, and characterized by elemental analyses, FT-IR spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and DTA-TGA. Its crystal structure was determined from single crystal X-ray diffraction. The 7 compounds are as follows:[Ni(en)3][B5O6(OH)4]2 · 2H2O (I)[Co(en)3][B5O6(OH)4]2 · 2H2O(II)[Zn(DIEN)2][B5O6(OH)4]2(III) α -[Co(DIEN)2][B5O6(OH)4]2(IV)β-[Co(DIEN)2][B5O6(OH)4]2(V)[Ni(DIEN)2][B5O6(OH)4]2(VI)[Ni(C4H10N2)(C2H8N2)2][B5O6(OH)4]2(VII)All the structures of synthesized borates contain the isolated pentaboate anion [B5O6(OH)4]- It is worth noting that the two kinds of ligands, piperazine (PPZ) and ethylenediamine (en), in the [Ni(C4H10N2)(C2H8N2)2][B5O6(OH)4]2(VII) come from the decomposition of TETA material under hydrothermal condition. The PPZ acts as a bidentate ligand is unique and rare in coordination chemistry. In β -[Co(DIEN)2][B5O6(OH)4]2(V), the ligands DIEN also come from the decomposition of TETA material under hydrothermal condition. The two borates, (IV) and (V) having same chemical formula, can be regarded as the isomeric compound.
