Flatness is one of the principal factors evaluating the metal plate and strip.With the users'demand for the strip quality becoming more strict,it is increasingly important to improve and enhance the strip's flatness.The continuous tension leveller is a kind of key equipment to eliminate the three-dimensional vice on the strip and enhance its quality.Up to now, tension levellers owned by China's steel and iron companies, which are very expensive, are mainly introduced from abroad, and the pesetting of its process parameters depends on the experience basically. Studying on the mechanism of metal strip deformation and developing tension leveller aided-design and process simulation can not only provide the technical support of desgning and manufacturing the tension leveller of our own but olso save the investment to the relevant equipments drastically. So it is necessary to study and research tension leveller theoretically and commercially. Firstly, this paper analyzes the process of the linear hardening strip's tension levelling on the basis of the theory of metal strip's elasto-plastic deformation deeply, it also compares two kinds of different computing mehods of bending radius in combination with experimental data to obtain more reasonable bending radius and establishes experimental elongation model and tension loss model.Secondly, based on the obtained research,it gives the optimization method of levelling rolls design, uses Matlab optimization tool to validate geometric parameters of levelling rolls and analyzes the force of back-up roll in detail. It also provides design methods of other parts'parameter of tension leveller,including bridle rolls and deflector rolls.Lastly, it also analyzes the conFig.uration relationship of tension and bending effect , gives the optimization method between tension and inermesh, researches the simulation arithmetic of the process of tension levelling and develops the software for tension leveller's computer aided-design and process simulation in VC++.The achievements gained in this paper has been applied in some steel and iron design. Its applied effect indicates that the research is useful to the design of tension leveller and production.
