The technology of high-speed dry hobbing machining is one of bran-new and high machining efficiency technology of gear machining, which develops in recent years. It can conquer many disadvantages of the traditional way of gear machining, such as low processing efficiency, high operating costs, polluting environment and harming the workers'health and so on. It is becoming a hotspot for many countries.In the researching field of high-speed dry hobbing machining, the cutting temperature is most important, it most closely related to cutting mechanism. In the course of discontinuous cutting of high-speed dry hobbing machining, the teeth of hob are got heat strike periodically. Results in the teeth flawed and damaged. Furthermore, the phenomenon of adhereance, pervasion and oxygenation of hob teeth are also in connection with cutting temperature in the cutting course. Cutting temperature also affects the form of built-up edge, machining precision of workpiece, cutter life-span and so on.This paper is based on Heat Transfer Theory, Metal Cutting Theory and Hobbing Machining Principle and other theories. It deduces the multi-factor formulas of cutting temperature field and the formulas of average cutting temperature in high-speed dry hobbing machining and high-speed dry flying cutter cutting, sets up a cutting temperature model of high-speed dry hobbing machining and a cutting temperature model of high-speed dry flying cutter cutting. It applies ANSYS to silmulate the cutting temperature field of hob in high-speed dry hobbing machining. It also applies ANSYS to silmulate the cutting temperature field of flying cutter in high-speed dry flying cutter cutting. It applies VB6.0,MathCAD2000 to write programs of cutting temperature calculation of high-speed dry flying cutter cutting, cutting temperature calculation of high-speed dry hobbing machining, parametric design of hob, cutting temperature testing of high-speed dry flying cutter cutting experiment. Then it utilizes the experiment of high-speed dry flying cutter cutting to simulate high-speed dry hobbing machining, design the orthogonal method of cutting temperature experiment testing, utilizes the nature thermocouple to test the average cutting temperature of flying cutter cutting. Lastly, gathers the methods of analytic calculation, finite element analysis by ANSYS, cutting temperature experiment testing and conversation of energy, acquires the experiential formulas of average cutting temperature, it can analyze the...
