Computer numerical controlling (CNC)technology is a key link which connects designing and production, the application of which is of crucial importance to improvement of efficiency and reduction of cost.This paper takes into account the engineering application and the demands of numerical controlling processing of roller passes and makes an analysis of the technology of automatic programming of numerical control turning processing of roller passes. Second development is made based on Inventor– a three-dimension designing software. By this approach, a special graph automatic programming system for roller passes NC turning processing is developed.1. This paper explores and researches the realization of roller passes NC turning process based on solid condition. By projections, solid roller passes figures are obtained and such features of B-spline as direct perception and lubricity continuation are applied to non-circle curves, which solves the fitting of discrete point to smooth curve.2. According to the formulas of tool radius compensation under different conditions, tool path of roller passes processing is obtained and optimized. Auto-generation of roller passes final machining tool path is then completed. Concurrently, various ways of treatment of non-circle curves are analyzed and in line with practical features of roller pass NC processing, biarc fitting method is adopted to fit non-circle curves so as to make processing path become lines and arcs to meet the need of processing of common NC lathes.3. Auto-generation of NC codes is realized owing to the result of computation of tool path.4. By analyzing features of NC system and NC processing codes, an interface is built based on NC codes. With the supporting platform of inventor 3D modeling and display condition, 3D real-time simulation of roller passes turning processing is achieved by adoption of Boolean operation and dynamic refurbishing display on the basis of rational simplification of the turning process.
