This thesis analyzed the advantage of using the standard parts library in the process of designing hotrunner injection mold, and the shortcomings of the standard parts library of some 3D CAD softwares common used currently. The experience accumulated by the specialists in their research work at home and abroad was summarized. By using SolidWorks as the developing platform and the technique of API and database, this thesis developed a module for designing hotrunner injection mold.The module was consisted of the three dimensional standard model library, the calculating formulae for hot runner design, the database of parameters of the standard parts, the part to choose and create standard parts and user-interface part. The database of parameters of the standard parts was established by organizing the standard data using the relation database of Access. The standard-model library included the standard-part graphics of hotrunner and mold base. By using dimension driving, the parameterized design of mould was realized in order to increasing mould design efficiency.The test showed that the program runs well and the target was almost achieved. Users can use the standard-part model and calculating formulae conveniently and directly by choosing the function and main parameters in the menu and user-interface.
