With the increasing need for plastic parts in every department of economic domain paying more attention to the variety and quantity, customers are now requiring high quality products. This also leads to the innovation of the product. Accordingly, the plastic injection moulds that have higher quality and can be produced in short time are in greater demands. For the restriction of using common CAD software, it's difficult to reduce the mold's design time, which set aside little time to the manufacture of mold. So most mould used in the mold factory have many problems in mold design or in mold machining. However, there are some common problems in such design. The CAD software cannot integrate relevant knowledge about plastic injection mould. In addition, the process is still heavily dependent on professional mold engineers who have the rich knowledge and experience of mold design. These problems limit the potential use of the injection mould CAD technology in practical application.Intelligentized and automation design of injection mold is a great development of mold CAD technology. Application of Intelligentized injection mold CAD system can improve the mold design efficiency, and reduce the dependence on experts of mold design.In this article, the application of KBS and parameterized design in injection mold CAD system are studied. Intelligentized injection mold CAD system based on SolidWorks is established as well, which leads to the realization of the intelligentized and automation design of injection mold.The article also investigates the inference engine in KBS and the knowledge base. Based on the cases and rules in the knowledge base,using specifically reasoning arithmetic, a mold project is brought up with hybrid reasoning of CBR and RBR; parameterized graph library is built, parameterized 3D solid model and drawing model of every part of injection mold are made in the library. During the process of system running, we can select a felicitous model from the graph library, and drive the model with parameterized of dimensions and structure resulting from reasoning, and obtain 3D graph and drawing of every part eventually. Using Boolean subtraction Operation separates the die space and solves the difficult problem of building cooling channel and runner in the injection mold design system. Using ADO database control to establish the maintenance system of database, which realizes upgrade the knowledge of injection mold database by windows inside the system.This article also deep investigates software exploitation, interface design and system operation, which is very helpful to the re-development of system and offers many instruction for the system users.
