As an absolutely necessary procedure in the processing of polymers, the plasticization quality of polymer is very important to properties of its products. Based on the understanding to polymer processing, a new mixer with good performance was developed in this work by combining the merits of traditional mills and mixer with static and dynamic pins. It includes two parts: milling discs affording intense shear, and discs with teeth affording intense scattering. Here, the innovation of mixer is the slot for melts to flow, which is different from conventional linear slot. It is designed according to the Archimedes spiral, which can induce big pushing force for melt to flow along it and avoid degradation of polymer after staying long time within it. In the teeth section of mixer, melt are separated, converged and changed in flow direction repeatedly to guarantee the uniformity of its temperature and the good dispersion of blends.Several blends were studied with the self-developed mixer in this work, such as pure PP(F401), pure PP(K8303),pure HDPE(5000S),pure m-LLDPE and blends of P(K8303)/HDPE(5000S), PP(K8303)/HMWPE(DYD1158), PP(K1008)/HDPE (5000S) and m-LLDPE/ HDPE(5000S).The relationship between mechanical properties and morphologies of them were discussed according to the results of SEM, DSC and WAXD.
