Furfural is an important raw material of chemical industry. It is produced by agricultural by-products or discarded forestry materials, such as corncobs and maize straws, which costs less. China is a big agricultural power, whose furfural export quantity ranks the second in the world , so that she can guarantee to produce the furfural. Considering the economic benefits, we think it necessary to apply furfural to synthesizing more fine chemical industrial products of high additional value.The previous synthesis method of the intermediate, furoin, is cyanide process. It is furfural as raw material and KCN or NaCN as a catalyst that we use to synthesize furoin through the benzoin condensation. HCN is created in the reactive process, which does harm to people's health and results in the heavy pollution of the environment. In this experiment, we use furfural as raw material and VB1 as improved catalyst, instead of virulent KCN, to synthesize furoin and get a satisfying yield. Then we use furoin as intermediate to synthesize 1,2-Dibenzoyloxy-1,2-di-2- furanyl-ethylene . In the synthesis process, we adopt microwave synthesis to reduce the generation of by-products and hugely shorten the reactive time, which provides potent proof for industrial production.
