With the development of coating science and technology, and higher demand of environment — friendly coatings, it is the consensus at the development direction for waterborne epoxy resin coatings. At present, alkyd, epoxy resin, polyurethane resin, acrylate and varieties of their modified resins are better domestic resins for waterborne coatings. The excellent properties of epoxy resin have attracted the attention of the scientist. Waterborne UV-curing systems have advantages of non-contamination, nontoxicity, non-skin irritation and safety of production, and become an attractive research and application areas. It has become one of the main development direction of UV-curing systems and the green environmental product for 21st century.This paper introduced the research on preparation of self- emulsification mulriple emulsion, which based on epoxy resin E-20 as matrix with acrylic monomers grafting and copolymerization. Reaction with GMA and photoinitiator, UV-Curable waterborne epoxy resin coatings have been prepared.According to the research, the experiment has proved that the grafting reaction mainly on the third hydrogen.
