With the progress and development of the times,the automobile industry has become an indispensable part of our country.Since 2000,the car has entered the Chinese society rapidly,and now it has become an indispensable tool for people to travel.However,the synthesis of automotive coatings in the automotive industry is just in its infancy in China.In recent years,with the gradual release of environmental protection policies,waterborne automotive coatings have gradually entered the eyes of major automotive manufacturers.Compared with the demand of automobile industry,the research of water-based automobile coatings in China is just like one drop in the bucket.Therefore,the research of waterborne automotive coatings is extremely important.This paper analyzes the development process and research status of automotive coatings and waterborne automotive coatings.It is found that the main demand of waterborne automotive coatings lies in the performance of automotive topcoat and the application of metal anticorrosive paint.In this paper,epoxy resin E20 and E44 are used as raw materials,maleic acid chain extension,triethanolamine as catalyst,oleic acid end sealing,and acrylic acid modified by methacrylic acid,styrene,butyl acrylate,methyl methacrylate,etc.to prepare acrylic modified waterborne epoxy resin.The process was optimized and studied.The results showed that the polymerization temperature of epoxy ester is controlled at 150?,the grafting reaction temperature of acrylic acid is controlled at 110?,the ratio of chain extender and end capper is 1:8,the mass of methacrylic acid is 20%,and the mass of styrene is 50%with by the batch polymerization.The test results show that the film forming performance of the resin basically meets the market demand,the covering degree of the base material with the mixed dark color paste is qualified,and the covering degree of the base material with the mixed light color paste is slightly insufficient.Secondly,in order to get effective two-component acrylic amino baking paint,styrene,butyl acrylate,methacrylic acid,methyl methacrylate,hydroxyethyl methacrylate,acrylamide as raw materials,OP-10 and twelve alkyl sulfate as emulsifiers,and ammonium persulfate as initiator were used to prepare water based hydroxypropyl acrylic emulsion by seeded emulsion polymerization.The polymerization process was optimized.It was found that the obtained waterborne hydroxyl acrylic emulsion has the best performance in that the ratio of emulsifier to ionic type was non-ionic 2:1,the mass ratio of soft monomer to hard monomer was 2:1,and the temperature of reaction temperature was 80 degrees.The results showed that the stability of waterborne acrylic emulsion was slightly insufficient,and the emulsion properties decreased after long time.To sum up,waterborne epoxy resin can be used as car primer,and it still needs to be improved as car finish to increase its market competitiveness.
