The marking of product is the most important in the materials circulation. It is one of the necessary steps during the production of both finished and semifinished product. Not only it is important to the image of the corporation, but also has great influence on the continuance of the production data and the working procedure afterwards especially on the production with more specifications and less batches based on customers' order. The marking equipment for the metallurgy is a typical mechanical-electrical system combined with mechanism, electronics, aerodynamics, computer, inspection, testing and control.This task is to develop the marking equipment including the mechanism and control system for the metallurgy for Baosteel Group. At the present time all these equipments are imported from other countries expensively. So this task is to develop the first equipment of our own and grasp the market of the marking equipments. So this task is very significant.Firstly, a 2 DOF mechanism is designed based on the technical need. The mechanism can drive the printing gun to move in 2 DOF to print the character on the surface of the steel product. The motors and can be far from the hot surface of the steel to be protected since the motion is transferred by the pole. Two suits of AC-servo system are used in this mechanism to make it work stably. Secondly, the control system is established with PLC and AC-servo system. It is a kind of position control and indirect speed control to drive the printing gun to move in a certain track. So the AC-servo system work in the position control mode receiving the pulses input. The PLC worked as the controller before the two suits of AC-servo systems to control them by its two ways of high speed pulses output. In addition the PLC can communicate with the upper controller in the way of RS-232C serial communication.The control software is designed to transfer the character into the trajectory of the printing gun, to control the two motors according to the trajectory.
