In this thesis, the composite model of multi-dimensional multi-box and Gauss has been applied for simulating the characteristic atmospheric contaminations of SO2 and PM10 concentrations in Beijing city during heating season (January, 2002) and non-heating season (August, 2002) respectively. Based on the prediction of the atmospheric pollutant concentration in recent years, the atmospheric environmental capacity of Beijing City under certain atmospheric environment quality standard is calculated, and the atmospheric SO2 and PM10 capacity of different standard rates is retrieved. Through comparing with the relative research results by international popular model-3, we can discover that the prediction concentrations as well as atmospheric environment capacity values obtained by the composite model and model-3 model are similar. Muti-dimensional multi-box model is a new atmospheric prediction model invented by Beijing University of technology and Regina University, which can reflect physical and chemical removal mechanisms and effects of wind-direction variations, with four wind-direction groups being introduced into its computational framework. It can also predict the air quality of different cities. As to the study of atmospheric capacity, it shows that the average relative errors of prediction value and monitoring value are less than 21 percent, which insures a nicety study conclusion. On the basis of atmospheric environment capacity, the various air pollution control steps of Beijing City are optimized by the linear optimization method, in order to achieve the purpose of the least investment outlay to protect the environment and most environmental effect. The study involves the applications of multi-dimension and multi-box model, linear optimization, and .the comparison of the composite model of multi-dimension multi-box model and Gauss model with model-3. It is the first application of the method of using Lidar data as boundary influent concentrations during applying multi-dimension and multi-box model. Meanwhile, the method of dealing with pollution sources by GIS is used in multi-dimensional multi-box model.
