In recent years, the mold industry was developed quickly. The uses of CAD/CAM technology in mold designing and manufacturing were very important. CAD/CAM technology is considered the core and developing direction of modern mold technology. Pro/E which is one of the best software in mold designing, is used widely in our mold industry. However, in correlative domestic corporations and enterprises, Pro/E was mainly used as a software tool, the further development on Pro/E was relatively lagged. So it is necessary to further develop the Pro/E software to make it be fit to our industry, which is one of the important work in using thee external software.Generally, there are two methods for further development of Pro/E, one is to carry out the development with the PROGRAM sentence of itself and the other is to write the language VC++ code through the Pro/TOOLKIT of Pro/E.The paper chooses the second method. And customizing the user's menu of Pro/E and developing interface application upon Pro/E have been made by means of the powerful capability of Relations and Pro/TOOLKIT. The database application based on VC++ database has been developed by Microsoft Visual VC++ , and it has been integrated into Pro/E by Pro/TOOLKIT. Thus it is possible to VC++ database through Pro/E user interface. And the capable Pro/E is combined with advanced DBMS perfectly.The main researches in this paper areas follows: setting up the 3D solid model database of punch die parts. Establishing the database of standard parts of punch dies on C array. Developing database application by VC++.Developing interface application Pro/E by Pro/TOOLKIT and DLL technology, which integrates QUI with Windows style into Pro/E and enable Pro/ENGINEER users to access and manipulate the established database on VC++ database.
