As a precious forging technology, the cold and warm composite precision forming process possesses the main advantages of cold and warm forging, such as the high material utilization ratio, good forming precision, complete internal metal flow lines, and good mechanical properties. So it was widely used in manufacturing industries.Although there are many types of cup-rod forgings, they have same shapes and forming processes, and require high mechanical properties and dimensional accuracy. They are used in automobile steering systems, transmission systems,etc.Cup-rod forgings produced by cold and warm composite precious forming technology have good surface precision and mechanical performances,so they could meet the quality requirements of manufacturing industries. The CAD software plays an important role in promoting the development of the precision forming process of cup-rod forgings. As a computer-aided design software,CAD is continuously updated with the development of precious forming To meet specific functional requirements, secondary development based on CAD software has gradually developed. The combination of industrial designs and computer technology has gradually become the development trend of future manufacturing.Based on the detailed analysis of the process characteristics and shape characteristics of cup-rod forgings, this paper proposed a setup scheme of the die parameterization design system framework, and made preliminary plans for the system design steps.Through analyzing the key technologies of the design system, the database software based on the UG secondary development program, and the program development languages and software, this paper developed expected outcomes of the die parameterized design system.Based on the analysis of the process of cold-warm forming process for cup-rod forgings, this paper categorized the forgings and put forward a classification scheme for example parts.Through the analysis and comparison of several databases, the appropriate database type was selected.A construction method of an example part database was proposed as the data layer of the entire system;at the same time, the user layer of the system was divided into two parts:the query system and the die parametric drive system, and the user interface dialog of the query system was designed based on the secondary development of UG.Based on the programming language, the connection between the database and the dialog was realized, and the function of querying and calling out the instance part from the database and viewing the detailed information was realized.Parametric modeling was used as the driving force of the parametric drive system.Parametric modeling was carried out based on the association between cup-rod forgings and molding(punch and die).At the same time, the user-designed interface of the parameterized drive system was proposed based on UG.The dialog box realized the process of generating new punch and die modes by modifying the dimensions of the parts to drive the dimensions of the corresponding punch and die to change. At the same time, the standard mould base was written into the database, and the program language was used to realize calling out the mould base from the dialog box to assembly, and the establishment of a complete dies system. This paper described the application environment and the software support conditions to set up the system, introduced the function and characteristic of the system, summarized the characteristic of the instance parts database and the mode of filling database. At the same time, this paper selected two new parts that were not included in the database to operate the system as the example application, and presented a work outlook to improve the system.
