Because of the advantages of high punch speed, high precision, CNC punch press has been widely used in the metal market. At present, the numerical control systems of high-speed punch press in enterprisers are mostly foreign numerical control system, so researching and developing our own numerical control system of punch press has great significance, it is also good for the sustainable development of inland CNC equipment.Based on ‘HNC-8' CNC system, the numerical control system of punch press has been developed by the means of secondary development. This paper has do deep research on many key technologies, such as real-time graphical simulation of stamping trajectory, the realization of the clamp protection, fixed cycle macro program of CNC punch press and so on.Firstly, based on the research of overall design of the numerical control system, this paper has developed a simple and efficient mold management system, which is prepared for the real-time graphical simulation of stamping trajectory and practical manufacturing. By studying the features of fixed cycle macro program of CNC punch press, this project has developed more than ten kinds of fixed cycle macro program. Based on the graph function of on the ‘HNC-8' CNC system, this project develops real-time graphical simulation of stamping trajectory function by the means of integrating the mold technological parameter.Then, as to the need of clamp protection, after introducing the establish principle of machine coordinate system and the workpiece coordinate system, this paper introduces the way to detect the position of clamps, this paper also elaborate the definite realization mechanism of clamp protection and the treating methods after the plunger chip has gone into the protect area.Lastly, this paper introduces the actual implementation model of punch motion control. Before punch motion, positional values have to be sent from CNC system to HS3 hydraulic system by RS-232. In addition, the positional values are perpendicular to the plane, which the workpiece belongs to. The information interaction between CNC system and HS3 hydraulic system is mainly based on the ‘HNC-8' CNC system's PLC functional module. The experiments show that the works with this project has preliminarily met the basic requirements when the high-speed turret punch press is actually producing.
