With the development of industrial automation and the wide application of computer's control technology in industrial production, the traditional data collecting system can't meet the requirements of the development of modern industry network. The rapid development and integration of industrial Ethernet and internet technology have made the architecture and operation methods of industrial automatic system improve significantly. In this case, embedded remote data collecting system with a higher speed, lower power and stronger robust in communication has witnessed a rapid development. It has become a kind of new work pattern of automatic system which the industrial field data is monitored remotely by internet.The 1~#and 2~# Medium Thin Slab Continuous Casting Machine rebuilded by TangShan GuoFeng Iron and Steel Co.,LTD. Medium Thin Slab Works in this paper are taken as the montoring target, based on the casters in existence, taking modern technology rebuilding, and designs and establishes a remote monitor system for Slab Continuous Casting Machine. The basic experimental model is completed, which is built on the analysis of the continuous casting mould's structure, the fieldwork requirements, synthesis of its technical parameters' characteristic. Each monitor unit can monitor several machines condition at the same time. It collects and analyses vibration and switch signals from different channels, and displaies various plots and charts of signals monitored on-line, and processes alarm events and history data automatically. The 32 bytes ARM7TDMI-S microprocessor and embedded real time operating system μC Cos- II are adopted to design the embedded data collecting system which can communicate with PC in the remote controlling center through serial PPI protocol or Ethernet communication interfaces. The totally new design concept is employed in designing the embedded data collecting system.
