With the advancement of the society, the developments of network and multimedia technology, Web-based Instruction using virtual reality technology has been turning into an important part of modern education. The realization of food machinery virtual laboratory is catering for education's development, and it will promote the efficiency of teaching food machinery and resolve insufficiency of experiment resources.In this paper, firstly, the virtual reality and virtual laboratory's conceptions and characteristics are explained, the research realities of virtual laboratory are introduced, and the necessity and probability of development on food machinery virtual laboratory are analyzed. Secondly, combined with VRML, Cult3D and Java technology, system function is analyzed, summary design and detailed design are made. Finally, the Cult3D animation of introducing meat chopper's construction and operation method, Cult3D animation of operating meat chopper, Java3D animation with collision detection of virtual assembling meat chopper are realized, the web pages and mutual animations of small-volume high-pressure homogenizer and laboratory scene are completed. In addition, Cult3D animation is compared with VRML animation, indirect method of connecting Cult3D with database is analyzed and realized, security of Cult3D file is analyzed and improved, cylinder bounding box are analyzed, debug methods of script and java program are introduced.
