The research on cement grinding aids is one of major subjects for cement manufacturers, because cement grinding aids could increase the grinding efficiency, improve the particle size distribution and the cement performance, decrease the cement production cost. According to the clinker characteristic and grinding process of Qinling Cement Group Co., laboratory and industrial investigations were utilized in this paper to study the performance of cement grinding aids, such as CD-88, XWB, XWA, ZS, LS-118 and HEA2-43. The effect of several grinding aids on output, quality and particle size distribution in cement grinding was investigated. The working mechanisms and the applied effects in different gringding process of several kinds of grinding aids were also analized and discussed.The experimental results showed that all of the four grinding aids have the effect of aid grinding for cement fineness, Blain specific surface area and particle size distribution under the same mill running state. The affect extent on the grinding efficiency was in the sequence of CD-88, XWB, ZS and XWA. For physical property, such as water requirement amount, cement strength, four kinds of grinding aids have different effects. Among them, the effects of CD and XWB were better relatively.The industrial experimental results of several grinding aids in different clinker grinding process indicated that all of the grinding aids had positive effect on both the open circuit gringing system and the closed circuit gringing system. The grinding aids was helpful to increase the output, decrease cement fineness, save electricity consumption, effectively improve the physical property of cement. LS-118 was suitable for the open circuit gringing system used for grinding clinker from wet process kiln. CBA1110 was suitable for the closed circuit gringing system used for grinding clinker from dry process kiln. As the grinding aids were used, the proportion of particles of 3~30μm in cement was increased, the cement particle size distribution became more reasonable and grain spherical degree was increased. The cement strength was enhanced, too. Meanwhile, the percentage of industrial waste mixture in cement was increased, correspondingly the percentage of clinker was reduced. At the same time, the cement production cost was decreased and the ecnomic benefit was improved.The funding mechanism of the grinding aids was to minish the crushing resistance, prevent powder reuniting, increase flow property and enhance the action frequency and efficiency between balls and cement powder. Then, the grinding efficiency was increased.
