Siliceous ferroalloys such as ferrosilicon, calciumsilicon, metalsilicon, aliumisilicon are oxidizer, alloy-additive and important raw material in mechanical-foundry, electronic and chemic industries. Siliceous ferroalloys are produced with carbon deoxidizing ore in the Submerged Arc Furnace. The reaction of carbon reducing silicon dioxidze is a complicated process. It is important to the production of siliceous ferroalloys that a study on the mechanism of the dioxidng process is carried out.SiC is a interim substance in carbon deoxidizing silicon dioxide process. It affects the economic indexes such as energy comsumption , technologic stabilization and furnace life. It is very important that the process of SiC producing and decompounding on the Submerged Arc Furnace smelting process. This thesis introduces the research work. First, according the thermodynamic of carbon reducing silicon dioxidze, SiC is made in defferent reaction in lab with different reducing agents such as half-coke and metallurgical-coke deoxiding silicon dioxide. In some experiments, impurities such as calcium oxide, alumina were added. Research is made on the crystal, quantity, microcosmic structure and shape of the carborundum .At the same time, the carborundum sample from the Submerged Arc Furnace is researched for validating the laboratory work..This thesis also discusses the adjustments of the technical parameters, carbon reductant condition about the Submerged Arc Furnace smelting process for effective controlling the making and decomposing carborundum . By these measurements, the higher productity and lower energy consumption can be attained.
