Recently, the design and synthesis of organic-inorganic hybrid compounds based on polyoxometalate blocks and transitional metal phosphates are of great interest owing to not only their intriguing structural frameworks but also potential applications in catalysis, medicine and materials etc. These kinds of decorated polyoxometalate derivatives and transitional metal phosphates can be regarded as an ideal atomic level structural model for the determination of the mechanisms of oxide-supported catalysts, and provide potentially new types of catalyst systems as well as interesting functional materials with magnetic and electronic properties.In this thesis, seven heteropolyoxometalate compounds (1-7) and three novel transitional metal phosphates (8-10) have been synthesized on the basis of hydrothermal technique and structurally characterized by elemental analyses, IR and single crystal X-ray diffractions. The thermal stabilities, fluorescent properties, electrochemical behavior and catalytic activity of a part of the compounds have been studied. Inorganic-organic hybrid polyoxometalates and transitional metal phosphates particles was used as a bulk-modifier to fabricate a three-dimensional chemically modified carbon paste electrode (CPE) by direct mixing. The electrochemical behavior of the solid particles dispersed in the CPE in acidic aqueous solution is characterized by cyclic voltammetry.
