Chemical refuse derived fuel technology is to pre-treat chemical refusemixed with calcium sorbent and wooden powder by crushing, molding, anddrying it into a desified refuse derived fuel. The fuel has a good combustionproperty. It can decrease the emission of HCl and SO2, and reduce theformation of highly toxic substances, such as dioxins, causing seriousenvironmental pollution. Because of the reduction of HCl, the incineratorefficiency increases sharply and the corrosion of hearth and piping reducegreatly. In this paper, firstly, the pyrolysis behavior and combustioncharacteristics of materials produced from the pilotscale equipment areresearched. The results show that the fast heating-up is better than the slowone, and pyrolysis temperature has great effect on pyrolysis process.Meanwhile, it is found that the RDF mixed with wooden powder has somebetter combustion characteristics e.g. ignition point compared with originalmaterial.Secondly, the emission and removal characteristics of hydrogenchloride during the combustion process are investigated in the paper. Theresults indicate the calcium sorbents e.g. CaO and CaCO3 are good forpreventing the emission of hydrogen chloride. The best reactiontemperature range of removal is 550-650℃, the optimum ratio of CaO andCaCO3 is 0.8 and 2 respectively. It is also found that mixing a certainamount of wooden powder in the sample not only increase the heatingvalue of the residue, but also is beneficial to chlorine capture. Finally, a pilotscale equipment is designed, which contains mixing, molding and drying procedures for production of chemical refuse derivedfuel.
