The Research On The Relationship Between Urban Resident's Environmental Awareness And Environmental Behavior

In the progress of industrialization and urbanization, following the advanced development and prosperity of the modern civilization, the environmental problem has become a matter to which the human being have to pay attention. Studies show that the environmental problems are closely related to the activities and behaviors of mankind. Those environmental problems which appeared in the process of the developed countries' industrialization and urbanization are now concentratedlly arising in China, especially in the urban areas. At present, the studies on the environmental awareness and the environmental behavior are distributed in the four fields of philosophy, economics, social psychology and culture. But both the home-research and abroad-research have some particular aspects or inadequacies. This research is about the urban resident's environmental awareness and environmental behavior as well as the relationship between them. It enriches the theories and methods of sociological research and tightly fixes on the modern subject of "concern the environmental problem, construct the society of kind environment and harmony." Therefore, this research owns important theory content and more direct and concrete significance of reality.There is no unified definition about the environmental awareness and the environmental behavior. This dissertation stands on the basis of analyzing the research achievements existed, regarding with its research goal ,content and demands ,implies the following concept: the environmental awareness is the whole knowledge of people's understanding of environment itself, the correlation between human being and environment as well as environment protection. It chiefly contains two respects. The first is the environment rational understand of ideology, idea and theory. The second is the environment perceptual knowledge of psychology, emotions and altitudes. Environment behavior is people's conscious behaviors in the light of environment protection and the solution of ecological environment problems. These behaviors are on the basis of personal feeling, knowledge, the sense of responsibility and the outlook of value. It contains environmental behaviors in public fields and private fields, particularly embodies the convince action, economy action, environment management action, legal action and political action.Ranks in exploring research, the dissertation includes some explanation and analysis as well as expectation after the discussion of the basic research object and content.In this dissertation, we did empirical research about the relationship between citizen's environmental awareness and environmental behavior in the way of the survey within household and the survey on document. These two kinds of survey are parts of the random selection .Concretely, we used the multistage sampling-sampling with probability proportional to size (PPS) and the simple random sampling. We mainly did two aspects of statistics and analyses: one is descriptive statistics, the other is correlation analysis and cross tabulation. This analysis method thoroughly and scientifically reveals the study object and the basic conditions and their relations of this thesis .At the same time, it provides us some detailed and handy information and scientific basis for dealing with the practical problems such as environmental problems.The result tells that the environmental awarenesses and the environmental behaviors vary according to the age ,the education ,the career and the family income. The variables which influence the environmental awareness and the environmental behavior can not be treated as the same. We shall not view it in traditional way and simply consider them are relevant or not. We ought to tell out whether the different environmental behaviors are relevant to the different environmental awarenesses. What's the relevance if they are, etc.The dissertation demands us to carry out certain strategies and take certain actions aimed at the different crowd that have different environmental awarenesses and environmental behaviors; to improve people's environmental awareness level and behavior level in the views of the individual citizen and the social demand; to promote the expected occurrence percentage and the real occurrence percentage of people's environmental behavior so as to push on the resolution of the environmental problems and the positive development of environment protection, and finally, realize the construction of the society of kind environment and harmony.
