The Research Of Design Method And The Design Practice In Modular Furniture

Conformance with the trend of economic development , and combine with the characteristics of China's furniture manufacturing, this dissertation deep explore how to develop the design of modular furniture with the research object of panel and imitating solid wood frame-type office furniture, on the basis of presenting the research background of modular furniture and the design foundation of the concept of modulization.First of all, the dissertation makes an investigation of the design of modulization for sorts of furniture.Then, summarizes the status of applications of furniture modular design in the current market,and points out the defects and shortcomings in the application process.Based on analyzing the results of the survey, this research emphasizes how to make modular design for panel furniture through researching production costs, product quality and response time to market. The dissertation analyzes furniture's each module's structure, size, pore spaces and the design of the connection with other furniture module, studies the method of achieving unitive modular design in greatest extent for products of different structure and products with two forms of covered doors and inlay doors, achieves common modulization in a higher degree, and provides research method for other kinds of furniture's modular design.Meanwhile, the dissertation also makes a research on the modular design of imitating solid wood frame-type furniture, and puts forward the method of how to apply the modules of panel furniture's cabinet to produce and design the imitating solid wood frame-type furniture. With the basic module of its cabinet under the same circumstances with panel furniture, the design method can produces the imitating solid wood frame-type furniture in widely different styles, through a wide variety of decorative module for modeling and changing styles.Finally, the article provides an example of modular product design of Office Cabinets Furniture.And it develops modular design for small cabinet under desk and three archives cabinets of different heights, and establishes a database for common module and a variety of combinations of modular production. Applying modules from the database of modules, the article designs the imitating solid wood under-cabinet and imitating solid wood archive cabinet, and verifies the design method of furniture modulization provided by this article through the design example.Based on researching the modular design of panel furniture and arts and crafts, this dissertation has done some exploratory work in the theory analysis and implementation of the module of panel furniture. Lastly, through the research of this study, this dissertation hopes it is able to excavate further the application potential of the modular design in china furniture industry, and explores the best modular design approach in Furniture Company with all experts and scholars and furniture enterprise managers.
